Jacket Football Players ,Cheerleaders & Families:
Needless to say the last four months have been very difficult for all of us. With Covid-19 taking over our lives and making us do things we have never done before. From school being cancelled to the Senior Class at Red Jacket missing out on all the things that they have spent four years of high school waiting for. All sport activities were canceled as well as any school activities that were planned. We had to find ways to entertain ourselves and our families.
On Monday night August 20 the FLYFCL board and presidents had a Zoom meeting and with a vote of 14 to 4 voted to cancel the 2020 Football & Cheerleading season. Please realize that this decision did not come easy we had to put aside our personal feelings and think about all of the young athletes and their families that we are responsible for during the season. There is a lot more to this than we realized and the restrictions on football as well as cheerleading are too numerous to mention. Just to give you an idea of some of the things that we would have had to put in place, for an example the revamping of our helmets, and cheerleaders having to wear masks. More on this to follow.
All High School Fall Sports have been moved ahead to the third week in September and that could change again. We discussed moving the season forward to start in the middle of September but then there would be only a two to three week practice season and the number of games would be reduced. We would not be allowed to offer concessions or water for the player and cheerleaders.
We now have a website and will keep you posted as changes take place. We want to plan some type of get together if possible in either August or September. We will not be together in our normal way this fall but our thoughts are with our athletes and their families because that is how we have always thought of you as one big family, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to give me a call if I miss your call it I will call you back.
I wanted to keep this short but let you know where we are and what is happening. PLEASE KEEP SAFE AND WE WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED OF THE CHANGES AS THEY OCCUR . WE WILL RISE UP !!! AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BEST SEASON EVER IN 2021.

The Red Jacket Youth Football and Cheerleading League has served more than 5000 youth in Shortsville/Manchester and the surrounding communities. Red Jacket seeks to improve our young people by offering them the opportunity to play sports in a safe and supportive environment that allows them to not only develop sports skills but also life skills. Youth who have come through our program have been recognized by the National Football Foundation, The NFL, and have had their names enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga. While our kids have gone on to cheer and play high school football and recognize unprecedented success in both venues they have more importantly been successful as students, and people.
If you love Red Jacket Youth Football and Cheerleading and want to be a part of the excitement, then be sure to check out the available volunteer positions on the Board. This is a great way to be an active part of our great youth program.
Our organization is run strictly by volunteers, without them, there would be no league!
If you wish to join the board, please email info@rjyfcl.com with your letter of interest. It is very important that people are in place in advance of the season so these kids can start the new year organized and ready to go.
Have a question about our team or our organization? Send us a message, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
